HYDERABAD: A 47-year-old police constable who contracted Covid-19, succumbed while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Siddipet on Sunday.
He was the first cop who lost his life to Covid-19 in Siddipet district.
The 1995 batch constable of Koheda police station in Siddipet commissionerate was a native of Andugulapet village in Mandamarri mandal of Mancherial district.
The constable tested positive for Covid-19 four days ago and as his condition suddenly deteriorated, family members rushed him to hospital in Siddipet during the early hours of Sunday. While undergoing treatment, the constable succumbed at around 11am, Siddipet commissioner Joel Davis said.
The constable is survived by his wife and two children.
“We have told the staff to be extra careful while performing their duties and immediately go for a test if they notice even slight symptoms,” the commissioner said. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 42 cops lost their lives to covid-19 in Hyderabad.
