HYDERABAD: Dispelling the misconceptions and fears associated with the efficacy of Covid-19 vaccines, a 100-year-old resident from Hyderabad, Jaidev Chowdhry got himself inoculated on Monday.
The centenarian, who is a retired entrepreneur and father of Freedom Oils managing director, Pradeep Chowdhry, was one amongst the first to visit the hospital for Covid-19 vaccine.
After getting vaccinated, Jaidev Chowdhry urged everyone above 60 years of age and those between 45 years and 59 years with comorbidities to get inoculated as it is more difficult for people of these ages to fight infections as their immune systems become weak with age.
“Due to the pandemic, senior citizens in Hyderabad had to remain indoors for a long time which in turn had a lot of impact on their mental and physical health. I was waiting for this day to be vaccinated so that I can go back to my old routine and lead an active social life. I also see this as the only way to end the pandemic,” said Jaidev Chowdhry.
“People must come forward and get themselves vaccinated not for their own benefit but for the benefit of the entire society,” the centenarian added.
