Latest News Today – Tika Utsav From April 11-14 To Vaccinate As Many As

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the chief ministers of all states and union territories to organise a “Tika Utsav” or vaccine festival to inoculate as many people as possible against the coronavirus. “Can we celebrate Tika Utsav from April 11 to April 14? During this time, we should vaccinate as many eligible people as possible and target zero vaccine wastage” he said at a meeting with all chief ministers over the coronavirus situation.

PM Modi also urged the chief ministers to bolster their efforts for the next 2-3 weeks to control the spread of the virus.

“There is a need to improve the governance system. I understand that because of the one-year battle, the system can experience tiredness and there can be laxity, but we must tighten it for 2-3 weeks and strengthen the governance,” he said at the meeting.

At the meeting, PM Modi emphasized on creating micro-containment zones and increasing testing.

“We must concentrate on micro-containment zones. In places where night curfew has been imposed, I would urge to use the word ‘Corona Curfew’, to continue alertness about coronavirus. It will be better to start curfew timing from 9 pm or 10 pm till 5 am or 6 am,” he added.

PM Modi stressed on the need for adopting measures like testing, tracking, treating, Covid-appropriate behaviour and Covid management to control the upsurge.

“I appeal to you all to stress on COVID-19 testing. Our target is to do 70% RT-PCR tests. Let the number of positive cases come high, but do maximum testing. Proper sample collection is very important, it can be checked through proper governance,” he said.

India on Thursday reported 1.26 lakh coronavirus cases – its highest ever single-day figure.

Experts say new coronavirus variants and people’s carelessness about the anti-Covid rules have brought on the second wave of infections.

Congress getting huge response from voters in Nagarjuna | Live Newspaper Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Congress is buoyed over the huge response and turnout of people in large numbers to attend public meetings and rallies being addressed by party candidate K Jana Reddy as part of his campaigning for the April 17 bypoll in Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency in Telangana.
“People are turning up in large numbers to attend the public meetings and rallies being organised by the Congress,” said former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir.
“We are getting tremendous response from the people especially women in the street corner meetings and door-to-door campaign. We are confident that a majority of women and youth would vote in favour of Jana Reddy,” Ali said after his interactive meeting with local residents in Marrepally village of Anumula mandal on Thursday.
The Congress has intensified the election campaign and focusing on door-to-door campaigns and interactive sessions with the voters.
Women, especially burkha-clad Muslims, were participating in large numbers in the meetings.
“Instead of simply delivering the speeches, we are requesting the locals to express their grievances. This approach has helped us in exposing the failures of the TRS government,” he said.
“People are vexed with the TRS government. Almost every family is badly affected due to rising prices of LPG gas, fuel and essential commodities,” he said.
He added, “Housewives are unable to run their homes due to rising prices and a decline in family income due to pandemic. Many people have either lost their jobs or their incomes got reduced and those who completed their education have no job opportunities.”
The Congress leader said the minorities, Dalits, STs and BCs are eager to vote Jana Reddy to victory.
“This time KCR’s money power and misuse of official machinery might not work in his favour. The TRS leaders were trying to lure voters by spending crores of rupees. But the people of Nagarjuna Sagar have decided to punish TRS and BJP for their wrong policies and they will ensure the victory of Jana Reddy with a majority of not less than 50,000 votes,” Shabbir Ali said.
Shabbir Ali ridiculed the claims being made by TRS ministers during the bypoll campaign.
“Ministers, including Jagadish Reddy, Mahmood Ali, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Srinivas Goud, are campaigning hard to protect themselves from being dropped from the state cabinet after the declaration of results,” he alleged.

Will the Revived Gazelle Give You a Good Deal on Your Phone | Sidnaz Blog

Gazelle used to be a household name for phone trade-ins, but then a lot of companies sprang up to nibble at the service’s lunch. Between that and the general growth of manufacturer-driven phone upgrade programs that owners can avail themselves of rather than selling their old devices to a third-party service for cash, it came as little surprise when Gazelle shut its doors for trade-ins on Feb. 1 of this year.

But it is surprising to see Gazelle has returned. The service is back to accepting phone trade-ins after its brief closure of two months or so, and it works just the same as before. Sort-of. There’s no more rewards program, but selling your phone to the service is pretty simple otherwise.

You’ll start by picking your phone from the lineup, selecting your carrier (if applicable), and selecting your specific model from a list of provided options (namely, storage capacities). You’ll then be asked a few important questions, like whether you can power your phone on and what kind of damage it has, if any. Gazelle will give you a quote, you’ll send your phone in for a free inspection, and you’ll get paid with a check, a PayPal deposit, or an Amazon gift card.

The process is the easy part. What’s trickier is figuring out whether Gazelle is going to give you the most cash for your device. There are plenty of reseller services out there for those that want to do minimal work; if you don’t mind taking the onus on yourself, there’s always Craigslist, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or a multitude of other places you can use to make the sale on your own.

I investigated this very question last year, comparing Apple’s trade-in program with reseller sites like Amazon, Gadgetgone, Gazelle, and Swappa. Of these, I found that Gazelle generally trended toward the bottom of the pack for pricing, but that varied a bit based on which iPhone you were looking to sell. Generally speaking, though, I’d be hard-pressed to find a reason to use the service unless I absolutely needed a method that has the least amount of human interaction (and potential to be scammed) possible.

Here’s how that breaks down using an iPhone XS and XR (512GB and 256GB respectively—carrier-unlocked, so we can get top dollar):

iPhone XS

  • Apple: $230
  • Amazon: $208
  • Gadgetgone: $430 (if brand-new; $330 for “good” condition)
  • Gazelle: $199
  • Swappa: $446 (average selling price)
  • Decluttr: $302

iPhone XR

  • Apple: $220
  • Amazon: $198
  • Gadgetgone: $390 (if brand-new; $282 for “good” condition)
  • Gazelle: $195
  • Swappa: $399 (average selling price)
  • Decluttr: $260

To give us another benchmark, let’s jump platforms and take a look at the trade-in values for a Samsung Galaxy S10 (maxed out specs):

Samsung Galaxy S10

  • Samsung: $400 (instant credit to a brand-new phone purchase)
  • Amazon: $151
  • Gadgetgone: $360 (if brand-new; $260 for “good” condition)
  • Gazelle: $240
  • Swappa: $377 (average selling price)
  • Decluttr: $278

I could keep going, but this little exercise has hopefully taught you a few things, and they’re all related. First, the easiest, fastest solution you find to sell your device might not be the best option if you’re looking to make the most money.; Le that’s your priority, scour third-party seller sites and see which gives you the best deal for your phone. Second, a reseller that worked well for you in the past, or with different phones, might not be the best option for the phone you’re currently using. And, of course, trading your phone back into its manufacturer can be a decent option, but you’ll be stuck within that ecosystem. You’ll probably have less hassle dealing with a company than with a real person buying your phone for cash, but that’s still one of the best routes if you need top dollar for your device.

Latest News Today – Mrs World Caroline Jurie Arrested For Yanking Crown Off

Caroline Jurie yanked the crown off Pushpika de Silva minutes after she was declared “Mrs Sri Lanka 2020”

Colombo:

Colombo police Thursday arrested the current “Mrs World” on charges of assault over an on-stage fracas in which she pulled the crown off the head of the new “Mrs Sri Lanka”.

Caroline Jurie yanked the crown off Pushpika de Silva minutes after she was declared “Mrs Sri Lanka 2020” at a Sunday gala at Colombo’s Nelum Pokuna theatre.

Jurie was previous year’s “Mrs Sri Lanka” and had gone on to win the “Mrs World” competition organised by a California-based company.

Pushpika de Silva needed hospital treatment after the incident, seen by stunned spectators in a packed theatre as well as a live social media audience.

“We have arrested Jurie and (her associate) Chula Manamendra in connection with a charge of assault and causing damage to Nelum Pokuna (theatre),” senior police official Ajith Rohana said.

De Silva told reporters outside the Cinnamon Gardens police station in Colombo Thursday that she was ready to drop charges if Jurie made a public apology, but she had refused.

“I tried to end this out of court, but she has refused,” de Silva said. “I can forgive, but not forget.”

There was no immediate comment from Jurie or her lawyer.

Police sources said a court hearing was likely next week and Jurie and her associate who crashed onto the stage on Sunday could be granted bail later Thursday.

Jurie had claimed that de Silva was divorced and therefore ineligible for the prize.

To qualify for the title, contestants must be married. De Silva is estranged from her husband, but they are still legally married.

Organisers said they were claiming compensation from Jurie for damages to the stage and backstage dressing rooms where several mirrors had been smashed.

Jurie has also been accused by organisers of bringing disrepute to the event.

The local franchise holder for the pageant, Chandimal Jayasinghe, said they were “deeply disturbed and sincerely regret” the behaviour of Jurie.

Social media calls have been mounting to strip Jurie of her “Mrs World” title, with one meme calling for her to be rebranded as “Mrs Under World.”

Latest News Today – India the Fastest Growing App Market in 2020, With

India was the fastest-growing app market across the globe in 2020 according to the data shared by mobile market research company Adjust. The latest analysis shows India saw significant growth – 49 percent – in 2020 compared to 2019 in terms of mobile app growth. The fastest growing vertical in India in the mobile app space was education, while gaming seems to be growing relatively slowly compared to other countries, even though it was the vertical that saw the highest overall growth.

As per the data shared by Adjust, a mobile market research company, India was the fastest growing region in the world in terms of mobile app growth. It grew by 49 percent in 2020 compared to 2019 where India fell in the middle of the pack among other countries like Argentina, Brazil, Thailand, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and many more. When it comes to apps and games, India saw the highest growth while Argentina saw the highest growth in just gaming.

According to Mobile Marketing Association India, there were 700 million unique mobile phone subscribers in the country out of which 451 million were Internet users. It was also found that education was the fastest-growing app vertical in India followed by business apps, food apps, social apps, and then games. Gaurav Shitak, Vice President and Head Digital Marketing at Sharekhan noted that gaming is seemingly “growing less rapidly in India than in the rest of the world” — or it could just be that other verticals outpaced games in terms of growth.

Even though COVID-19 lead to an increase in mobile shopping across the globe, ecommerce saw relatively low growth in India in 2020.
