HYDERABAD: Two persons died and two others suffered injuries in a road accident on the NH-65 at Pedda Amberpet in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district during the early hours of Thursday.
At 2.30pm, K Hanumantha Rao, 39, driver of an Innova car from Pamidipadu village in Narsaraopet mandal of Guntur district pulled over the vehicle at Pedda Amberpet to attend nature’s call.
Two DCM vans loads of iron rods and red chilli were behind the innova vehicle.
The driver of the DCM van with red chilli load was travelling from Martoor in Prakasham district in Andhra Pradesh to Patancheru and due to negligent driving, his vehicle rammed into the other DCM van carrying iron rods from behind.
“Due to high speed collision, mirchi farmer, M Ramachandraiah, 75, of Narannavari Palem in Martoor mandal of Prakasham district, who was sitting next to the driver, Dharma Teja, died in the cabin and the driver did not suffer any injuries,” Abdullapurmet inspector V Swamy said.
Due to the impact, DCM van with iron rods turned right and rammed into the parked Innova car near driver’s seat, crushing to death the innova driver, who was travelling to Shamshabad Airport from Guntur.
While the second DCM driver suffered injuries, the passenger in the Innova was unhurt in the accident.
Alerted by the motorists, police reached the spot and removed the two bodies stuck in the mangled vehicles using a crane.
The bodies were shifted to Osmania General Hospital and the injured DCM van driver has been shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
