Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat had disappointing outings for Team India in the 25m Pistol Women’s Qualification event on Friday, in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. The duo failed to qualify and Bhaker could only muster a total score of 582, Sarnobat managed 573 for India. Meanwhile, Deepika Kumari built on her fine form, sealing a win against ROC’s Ksneia Perova in the Women’s Archery Individual 1/8 Eliminations. Winning 6-5, the ace Indian archer has progressed to the quarterfinals. Other than shooting and archery, India will also have sprinter Dutee Chand and shutter PV Sindhu in action on Friday.

The men’s hockey team will be high on confidence when they take on Japan after having beaten defending Olympic champions Argentina yesterday. Sindhu defeated Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark yesterday and will take on Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinals. The women’s hockey team will search for their first win in the Games when they clash with Ireland. Boxer Lovlina Borgohain will have her quarterfinal bout and Dutee will compete in women’s 100m sprint.

    Currently 11th in the standings, Manu Bhaker has failed to qualify for the finals. The youngster scored 582, but it wasn’t enough to seal a top-eight spot.
