HYDERABAD: Distribution of rice, other essential commodities and paying respects to the Telangana martyrs marked the state formation day celebrations at Gandhi Bhavan and other Congress party offices in the state on Wednesday.
After hoisting the national flag at state party headquarters here, Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said neither the BJP government at the centre has implemented the assurances made in the AP State Reorganisation Act nor the KCR-government in the state has fulfilled its election promises of doling out unemployment allowance, filling up of 1.91 lakh vacancies in the government sector, Aasara pensions to people aged between 57 and 65 years, 2-bhk houses to name a few.
“CM KCR does not have the courage to question the central government on its failure in implementing the promises made to Telangana in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. The entire credit for the dream of Telangana state becoming a reality goes to Sonia Gandhi but the last seven years of TRS rule has been against the wishes of the people,” he said.
CLP leader Bhatti Vijkramarka, AICC spokesperson Dasoju Sravan, former minister Mohd Ali Shabbir, ex-MPs Madhu Yashki Goud and V Hanumanth Rao, former PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah and TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi, speaking at various venues said that self-respect was the main reason for Telangana agitation but the TRS-government is not allowing freedom of voice and is suppressing the opposition parties.
Another round of agitation is needed to regain the self-respect of the people of Telangana and put an end to this dictatorial rule, they said.
Bhatti lambasted the KCR-government for failing to stop the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh from diverting the Telangana water from Krishna river and no major teacher recruitments has been taken up.
