HYDERABAD: When members of a local temple authority in Borabanda forcefully opened a furniture shop, which they gave it on rent, they got a foul smell from a wooden box inside the store.
When they opened it to their utter shock, they found skeleton remains of a person.
SR Nagar police said that it is a case of murder and they are suspecting that extramarital issue could be the motive behind the murder.
During the investigation police found that a man’s body was stuffed inside the box and later the lid was closed.
There were skeleton remains found, with the head in a detached position.
Foul smell was still emitting from the box.
The temple authorities told police that the shop is part of the temple property and more than two years ago, it was given on rent to one Palash Pal, who is a native of West Bengal.
“But for the last several months he has not been paying rent. For the last 10 months he has kept the store closed. Since he has not been paying rent, the temple authorities opened the store forcefully. After they gained entry, they found the skeleton remains in a box,” SR Nagar inspector K Saidulu told TOI.
According to police, they have identified the victim and they suspect the role of Pal, who was taken into custody. It is learnt that the victim is Kamal Maithi.
Police said that this could be a case of an extra-marital affair leading to the murder of the victim.
Police said that they have registered a case under section 302 (murder) and 201 (screening of evidence) of IPC.
Following the incident, a large number of locals reached the spot in large numbers and they were shocked to know about. They all were curious to see the box, in which the body was stuffed.
