Asaduddin Owaisi: Will BJP deny tickets to MLAs with more | Live Newspaper Hyderabad

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday claimed that there were 150 MLAs in Uttar Pradesh who have more than two children. He challenged UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath to state clearly if BJP will deny tickets to such legislators in ensuing polls to t state assembly.
Speaking to reporters, Owaisi demanded the Centre launch an inquiry into the Pegasus or at least allow a debate in Parliament over the issue. “When inquiries are being done on the Pegasus-phone hacking issue in Israel and France, why is the Modi-government scared to even constitute a commission to inquire into it?” Owaisi questioned.
The AIMIM president also lashed out at PM Narendra Modi for his perceived silence on the issue of “China sitting in Indian territory.” “Why doesn’t the Modi government lead a delegation of MPs and journalists to Depsang, Gogra, Hot Spring and Demchok to show that these are still under control. But the reality is that the Chinese soldiers continue to be in control of our territory…,” Owaisi alleged.
The AIMIM president also lambasted the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh and Centre for allegedly neglecting the health sector.
“There are four lakh acutely malnourished children in UP, severe shortage of doctors and specialists in public, community health centres and sub-centres. The Modi-government had filed an affidavit in Supreme Court in 2020 stating international experience shows that any coercion to have a certain number of children is counter productive and leads to demographic distortions,” he said.
Owaisi also demanded the Centre give jobs to crores who lost jobs due to the alleged mismanagement of the second wave of Covid-19.

Lockdown extended in Telangana up to June 9; relaxation from | Live Newspaper Hyderabad

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: The state cabinet chaired by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday decided to extend the lockdown in Telangana for another 10-days, from May 31 to to June 9.
The cabinet also decided to increase the relaxation window from 6am to 1pm. Earlier, this window was only for four hours between 6am and 10am. This was done following representations from almost all the sectors and sections of society to increase the relaxation window as only a four hour duration was resulting in the people crowding the markets without maintaining the crucial social distance Covid-19 guideline.

For those who go out to purchase groceries and finish off their work by 1pm, a grace period of one hour i.e. up to 2pm would be given. But the lock down would be strictly implemented from 2pm to 6am the next day, the Cabinet decided.
Municipal minister KT Rama Rao tweeted that the cabinet meeting also consented for limited revival of economic activity. The guidelines will be issued soon. Students going overseas for higher education will be given vaccination on priority so they can travel safely.
KTR stated that the cabinet has resolved to establish seven medical colleges at Mahbubabad, Sangareddy, Jagtial, Nagar Kurnool, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem and Mancherial. Prior to the formation of Telangana state, only four government medical colleges were there in the undivided state. From 2014 to 2018, CM KCR has established five and now seven more to come up, he added.

Telangana: Asaduddin Owaisi says lockdowns are not a | Live Newspaper Hyderabad

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday took to the twitter to express his opinion that lockdowns are not a strategy to combat Covid-19 and that the universal vaccination was the only long-term solution.
In a series of tweets hours before the Telangana state cabinet led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met to take a call on extension of lockdown, Owaisi stated that: “As data shows, Covid-19 cases were already reducing much before lockdown was imposed on May 12. It’s quite clear that it’s not lockdown that helped. It’s also clear that Covid-19 can be combatted without lockdown.”
He strongly urged the chief minister’s office (@Teolangana CMO) to not extend the lockdown. “If the goal is to reduce crowding, then we may consider evening curfews from 6 pm onwards or mini-lockdowns in Covid-19 clusters. But expecting 3.5 crore people to live for weeks with just a 4-hour lockdown relaxation is not fair at all,” he tweeted.
The only long-term solution is universal vaccination. Lockdowns give a cruel choice to the poor: poverty, police atrocities or pandemic. They make a public health crisis into a law and order problem. They are neither a scientific nor a humanitarian strategy, he stated.
“We have to accept that the pandemic is a long term reality. One can combat it only by educating the public about mask use and social distancing, and tweaking government policies to encourage and enable such lifestyle change,” he added.

Telangana: AIMIM back in contest, to lock horns with TRS | | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi-led party has fielded seven candidates in Jadcherla and four in Siddipet municipalities

HYDERABAD: After staying away from Graduate MLC polls held recently, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will contest the municipal elections scheduled to be held on April 30.
However, AIMIM is contesting only from Jadcherla and Siddipet municipalities and the by-poll to 28th ward in Jalpally municipality. The party is likely to win the 28th ward by-poll unanimously as no other party has fielded candidates on request of the family members of deceased ward member, whose death necessitated the by-election.
Elections are being held to municipal corporations of Greater Warangal and Khammam, five municipalities of Jadcherla, Siddipet, Nakrekal, Atchampet and Kothur and nine other municipal wards in other civic bodies.
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi-led party has fielded seven candidates in Jadcherla and four in Siddipet municipalities. Though AIMIM is a friendly party of the ruling TRS, the candidates of both the parties are in electoral fray against each other in several wards.
This is not the first time that TRS-MIM are locking horns in an electoral battle despite being friendly parties. Both the parties fiercely contested GHMC election against one another in the Old City, a stronghold of AIMIM. Congress, BJP, CPI, CPM, All India Forward Bloc and independents are among the other parties in fray from Jadcherla and Siddipet municipalities.
AIMIM general secretary and MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri said the party had won a couple of wards in Jadcherla in the past when Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi was party president. There is a sizable population of SCs, STs, BCs and Muslims in the two municipalities.
“Our candidates have the potential to win as they have been working in the field to solve the problems of the people,” he said.

Denied permission for rally in West Bengal, Asaduddin Owaisi | Hyderabad News

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday lashed out at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for not allowing him permission to hold public meetings in the state.
In January this year, Owaisi travelled to Hooghly and announced a tie-up with Abbas Siddique, peerzada and secretary of the Furfura Sharif to fight assembly elections together. On Thursday, Owaisi was supposed to attend a public meeting in Muslim-dominated Metiabruz, but the meeting was cancelled after the government refused to give permit citing law and order issues. “Where was Mamata when Godhra happened? BJP won 18 seats here. The larger question is what rights do you have to stop me? How can I be stopped,” questioned Owaisi in a media conference.
MIM wanted to kick-start campaign on February 24. Continuing his attack on Trinamool Congress party, he said that leaders have two faces — one in New Delhi and another in Bengal. Speaking about the public meeting he said that if cops continue to deny permission in future too, the party will approach ECI.

Cops Cancel Asaduddin Owaisi's Kolkata Rally Ahead Of Polls: Party Leader

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s Thursday rally was to have kickstarted his Bengal polls campaign (File)

Kolkata:

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s Kolkata rally – to kickstart the party’s campaign ahead of Bengal Assembly election due in April-May – has been cancelled after the police refused permission, party leader Zameerul Hasan was quoted by news agency PTI on Wednesday night.

Mr Hasan said the party – which the Trinamool has attacked as one “brought in to divide Muslim votes (that would normally fall to the ruling party)” – had applied for permission 10 days ago, and were only informed of the rejection this evening.

“We had applied 10 days back for permission. But today we were informed by the police that they will not permit us to hold the rally… we can’t be cowed down by such tactics of the ruling Trinamool. We will discuss and soon announce a fresh date,” Mr Hasan said.

Thursday’s rally was to have taken place in the Muslim-dominated Metiabruz area of Kolkata – which falls in the parliamentary constituency represented by Abhishek Banerjee, who is Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew – and be headlined by Mr Owaisi.

The police have not commented and Trinamool leaders have denied involvement, although they were quick, once again, to attack the “proxy of the BJP”.

“We have no role in permitting a rally organised by AIMIM which is nothing but a proxy of the BJP in Bengal,” Trinamool MP Sougata Roy said, adding, “Muslims here are mostly Bengali-speaking and won’t support him… stand firmly with Mamata Banerjee.”

The Trinamool’s distrust of the AIMIM was underlined by Ms Banerjee last month; she said “… a party from Hyderabad… takes money from the BJP… to get Muslims votes so Hindus vote for BJP”.

Mr Owaisi and the AIMIM come to Bengal after a good result in the Bihar election; the party won five of the 20 seats it contested and picked up 14.28 per cent of the votes in those seats.

Newsbeep

He visited Bengal last month to discuss a possible alliance with Abbas Siddiqui at Furfura Sharif, a place of religious significance for Bengali Muslims, and to ask him to be the AIMIM face.

Last week, however, Mr Siddiqui and his Indian Secular Front (ISF) were said to have joined the Congress-Left-led opposition, according to Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

Today Mr Siddiqui said talks were still going on and that he would not oppose Mr Owaisi’s AIMIM.

The BJP, meanwhile, has scoffed at both the AIMIM’s involvement in Bengal and the Trinamool’s claim of an agreement between the two opposition parties. Off the record they also say they expect Mr Owaisi’s presence to hurt Ms Banerjee, given she counts on Muslim votes.

Thirty per cent of Bengal voters are Muslim and analysts say they vote for Ms Banerjee en masse, making her almost invincible. To counter this, the BJP has accused her of “Muslim appeasement”. Mr Owaisi’s presence – an alternative for that Muslim vote – could be a red flag for the Trinamool.

AIMIM bags 7 wards in Ahmedabad | Hyderabad News | Hyderabad News

[ad_1]

Asaduddin Owaisi’s party, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), made an impressive debut in Gujarat’s electoral politics, winning seven of the 21 wards which it contested in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) election.
The party tasted success on a day when AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi held two public meetings in Gujarat ahead of the local body elections slated in state villages and towns on February 28.
“AIMIM is thankful to Ahmedabad for voting for our candidates and believing in them. From day one, our councillors will work on the promises that we have made. For years, Congress had done nothing but unlike in the past, Muslims will not be ignored now,” Owaisi said at a public rally in the communally sensitive Godhra in Panchmahals, late on Tuesday evening.
Apart from fielding 21 candidates in the AMC election, AIMIM is also contesting in the Godhra and Modasa municipalities, where voting will take place on February 28. All of AIMIM’s success in Ahmedabad has been directly at the cost of the Congress party. AIMIM won all four seats in Jamalpur ward and three of the four seats in Maktampura ward. All were held by the Congress in 2015. AIMIM, which is looking to spread its base across the country, has already announced that it will field candidates for the 2022 assembly elections as well.
City leaders of the beleaguered Congress party admitted that the party’s own failure helped AIMIM gain a foothold in the city. “Two of the candidates who contested from Jamalpur ward on AIMIM ticket, namely Mushtaq Khadiwala and Mohammad Rafiq Shaikh, were strong Congress candidates who were denied tickets. In Maktampura, ex-Congress councillor Suhana Mansuri was denied ticket and later joined AIMIM. Such bad moves caused a large chunk of voters to move away from the Congress,” said a senior city-based leader. The complete indecision of the state Congress party leaders in finalising candidates even in wards where it had the edge led to major resentment among the cadre, which in turn caused infighting. This led to the Congress losing out seats in Jamalpur and Maktampura wards to the AIMIM, the leader said.
