Latest News Today – Samsung One UI 4.0 Beta Based on Android 12 Reportedly

[ad_1]

Samsung One UI 4.0 beta, that will be based on the upcoming Android 12, has been announced, as per a tipster. The announcement is said to have been made by one of Samsung’s community managers, who also posted a banner inviting the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra to sign up for the beta programme. Meanwhile, a tipster has claimed that the South Korean tech giant could start rolling out the beta for the Galaxy S21 series in August and the stable version may be rolled out in November or latest by December.

The banner posted (login required) by a community manager at Samsung — first spotted by tipster Ice Universe — clearly mentions “Galaxy S21 series One UI 4 beta is coming soon.” Samsung has asked for participation from the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra owners in South Korea. The Samsung One UI 4.0 beta programme is open to all those who have SIM-free (unlocked) phones as well as those who bought them from carriers. The poster, however, hasn’t mentioned any particular timeline of the beta and stable version roll out.

Meanwhile, another tipster who goes by the name Chun (@chunvn8888) tweeted that the Samsung Galaxy S21 series of smartphones will get the first beta rollout in August, and the stable version is expected to roll out in November or it could delay until the second week of December, depending upon the issues uncovered. Chun also listed out some changes that Samsung smartphone users may be able to see in Samsung One UI 4.0.

The tipster claims that Samsung One UI 4.0 will be a big makeover from the Samsung One UI 3.0. As per the tipster, there will be changes to icons, colours scheme, and Samsung may adapt Android 12 Material You UI in some cases. The update is also expected to bring better optimisation with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888/ Exynos 2100 SoCs. We may also see minor updates in Knox — Samsung’s security framework, and a makeover of Samsung Notes app “since a lot of devices support S-Pen now.”

Latest News Today – Call of Duty: Mobile Beta Test Kicks Off, Brings Content

[ad_1]

Call of Duty: Mobile beta test has started allowing players to get an early look at what’s to come in Season 6. The latest beta build is available for Android and iOS users through an ‘apk’ and a Test Flight programme, respectively. The development was shared on the official Call of Duty: Mobile subreddit f/CallOfDutyMobile along with some of the new content that will be present in the build. There are new maps, new operator skills, optimisations to battle royale, and UI changes.

The Call of Duty: Mobile Team took to Reddit to share details of the latest beta build for Android and iOS. It brings some of the features and changes that may make their way to Call of Duty: Mobile Season 6 or maybe even Season 7. Currently, Season 5 is running on the stable version of the game. As per the Reddit post, the Call of Duty: Mobile public beta test build includes two new multiplayer maps called Slums and Stacks. There are new operator skills, scorestreaks, perks, and grenade types.

The battle royale mode has been optimised as well. The build will also include some UI changes and improvements. This build does not include the upcoming Zombies mode.

As this is a beta build, be warned that it can be buggy and may have placeholder text in some areas. The content present in the beta build may or may not make its way to the final release. It may even skip the next season and return in the season after that. As of now, there is no end date for this beta test. Android users can download the 64-bit or 32-bit version of the game while iOS users can head to the Test Flight link. Do note that both platforms have limited number of slots for beta testers.

The developers have said that all the data collected through the tests will be eventually deleted, adding that the content is suited for those over 16 years of age.

Latest News Today – AstraZeneca Tests Booster Vaccine Against Beta Variant

[ad_1]

AstraZeneca Tests Booster Vaccine Against Beta Variant Of Covid

COVID-19: AstraZeneca’s ‘booster’ vaccine’s trial will involve around 2,250 participants (File).

London:

AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford on Sunday began new trials to test a modified vaccine against the Beta variant, which first emerged in South Africa.

The ‘booster’ vaccine’s trial will involve around 2,250 participants from Britain, South Africa, Brazil and Poland.

They include people who have been fully vaccinated with two doses of the original Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine or an mRNA vaccine such as Pfizer as well as those who have not got the jab at all.

The new vaccine, known as AZD2816, has been designed using the same base as the main AstraZeneca shot but with minor genetic alterations to the spike protein based on the Beta variant.

“Testing booster doses of existing vaccines and new variant vaccines is important to ensure we are best prepared to stay ahead of the pandemic coronavirus, should their use be needed,” said Andrew Pollard, chief investigator and director of the Oxford Vaccine Group at the University of Oxford.

Britain has had a successful vaccine roll-out programme, but experts do not know how long protection lasts.

“This study will provide vital evidence on whether further doses including ‘tweaks’ against new virus variants may be needed in the future,” said Maheshi Ramasamy, Principal Investigator at the Oxford Vaccine Group.

Initial data from the trial is expected later this year.

Current vaccines are believed to be less effective against the Beta variant, although it is the Delta variant, which emerged in India, that is currently causing most concern.

Although the main vaccines are believed to be highly effective at preventing serious illness, the Delta variant’s transmissible nature is leading to a spike in cases in some countries, including Britain.

Latest News Today – Battlegrounds Mobile India Beta Released for Download

[ad_1]

Battlegrounds Mobile India, the PUBG Mobile replacement, is finally available to play, sort of. The game was available in open beta but only to a limited number of testers. More slots will be added over the course of the day, the company said in a press statement. Battlegrounds Mobile India was announced in the first week of May and went up for pre-registrations on May 18. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting to play the game.

Krafton, through its official Battlegrounds Mobile India Facebook page shared that the game in is Early Access or open beta and that fans can download and play. However, it looks like the beta was only available for a short time to a limited number of beta testers and the beta programme is full on Google Play. The beta testing link either shows an ‘Internal server error’ or a message that says the testing programme has reached the maximum number of testers.

Update: On Friday, Krafton announced in a post on the Battlegrounds Mobile India Facebook page that the Early Access build is now available to everyone, with company seeming to have made more slots available in the beta programme. You can access it from the beta testing link seen above. Those who get on board during this Early Access period will get the following in-game items: 1x Supply Crate Coupon, 2x EXP Card, and a 2x BP Card.

One of the users got Early Access to Battlegrounds Mobile India today and the screenshot shared on Twitter shows the game will be 721MB in size. Along with users who were able to get access, there are quite a few who weren’t able to and have shared their disappointment on Twitter.

Ershad Kaleebullah from MySmartPrice shared some gameplay footage from Battlegrounds Mobile India along with some observations. The in-game blood is green instead of red, there are quite a few warnings about safe gaming, data can be carried over from PUBG Mobile, and an OTP is not required to log in. Even the map and settings options seem to be the same as PUBG Mobile.

This open beta comes one day ahead of the expected launch date of June 18 which makes it seem like the game will not launch tomorrow. Past leaks had suggested that Krafton will release the game to the public on June 18 but there has been no confirmation from the developer.

Battlegrounds Mobile India is the Indian version of PUBG Mobile that was banned in the country last September. It comes with some tweaks, which have now been made somewhat clearer. The game is essentially PUBG Mobile as the battle royale experience is the same.

Latest News Today – Clubhouse Android Beta Coming to India, Rest of the

[ad_1]

Clubhouse announced its Android app beta rollout timeline for several countries including India. The app, that has been available on iOS for over a year, has been in beta testing on Android since early May but in the US only. The developers had shared it will roll out to Brazil, Japan, and Russia by today (May 18), and will make its way to India and Nigeria on Friday (May 21) morning. Clubhouse is an invite-only audio based social media platform that rose to popularity early this year when celebrity billionaire Elon Musk and others appeared in audio chats.

Clubhouse started beta testing its Android app in the US in the first week of May with limited number of testers. About a week later, a public beta of the Android app was launched in the country. Now, the developers have shared through a tweet that the app is coming to the rest of the world with exact timelines for countries including Brazil, India, Japan, Nigeria, and Russia.

The Android rollout will continue throughout the week and Clubhouse will be available globally by Friday afternoon, as per the tweet. It should be noted that this will be the public beta of Clubhouse. A stable Android version of the app has not been announced yet.

Ever since Clubhouse’s popularity skyrocketed after Elon Musk and other celebrities showed up in chats in the app, other social media platforms have been trying to develop their own versions of Clubhouse. Social media services like Twitter, Instagram, Discord, and Reddit, among others, have already launched their rival apps. Twitter launched Twitter Spaces, Discord brought its Stage Channel, Instagram has its Live Rooms, Reddit launched Reddit Talk, Telegram launched Voice Chats 2.0.

Besides these competitor apps, Facebook and LinkedIn are working on releasing their own alternatives as well. Meanwhile, Mark Cuban’s Fireside audio chat and podcasting app is expected to launch soon.

Latest News Today – Clubhouse Android App Public Beta Launched in US After

[ad_1]

Live audio app Clubhouse will begin introducing a test version of its app to Google’s Android users in the United States on Sunday, the company said, in a potentially big expansion of its market.

The app, which spiked in popularity early this year after celebrity billionaire Elon Musk and others appeared in audio chats, has sparked copy cats from startups and larger rivals including Facebook and Twitter.

It has been available only to users of Apple devices and by invitation. In some markets such as China, invitations were so sought after some were auctioned on online marketplaces.

But downloads of the app, one measure of popularity, have significantly fallen.

After peaking in February with 9.6 million downloads, that number fell to 2.7 million in March and then 900,000 downloads in April, according to Sensor Tower.

The drop has sparked questions about its long term viability and whether its success was owed in part to people spending more time at home during the pandemic.

The long anticipated Android launch is expected to reach more new users globally. The Android version will reach other English-speaking markets and then the rest of the globe days and weeks after the US market beta launch.

Clubhouse, which created the category, now faces the likes of Facebook, whose CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in April a slew of audio products, including Clubhouse-style live audio rooms and a way for users to find and play podcasts.

In January, Twitter said that it will introduce a new feature to let users charge admission to their live audio chat rooms in its Spaces feature, as the company seeks to court more content creators. It has been available to Android users since March.

GeForce Now Beta Now Available for M1-Powered Mac | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

Bringing resource-intensive games to laptops and other devices that might not have the capability to run them on their own, Nvidia has now launched its cloud gaming service GeForce Now’s beta version for Chrome Web browsers and M1 Macs.

According to The Verge, GeForce Now already had applications for Android and Windows 10 devices. But, it expanded to an even wider audience with a beta launch for Chromebooks in August of 2020, and later followed it up by beating Google’s Stadia to iOS devices with a Web app workaround that lets user’s stream games through the Safari Web browser.

Theoretically, now anyone with a Chrome browser can stream games by heading to GeForce Now’s site and creating an account, even on a weak laptop. For the new M1 Mac users, according to release notes there is a new dedicated application. Nvidia’s changelog also lists a few other changes to make the service more useful in a browser, like the ability to create dedicated shortcuts for your games and a new way to share links that can send your friend directly to a game.

Similar to Google Stadia and Amazon Luna, GeForce Now is also essentially a PC in the cloud that users rent to stream their games. Games can be played using a mouse and keyboard, a gamepad, even a wireless headset, all of these work seamlessly in Chrome. It is worth noting that even though Microsoft Edge is a Chromium browser now, it isn’t currently supported.

As per The Verge, GeForce Now’s expansion hasn’t been all sunshine and roses. The service has Steam integration, which can unlock PC games that a user might already own to stream via the service, but not all games work because developers have to opt-in.

Many of these developers are not too happy with Nvidia because GeForce Now lets players stream their games without permission (letting Nvidia profit off a monthly membership). Though its rival Google Stadia has a smaller library of even more tightly curated games, it can often offer a clearer picture and higher resolution than Nvidia does right now.
