PM Narendra Modi to IPS officers: Fight negative image | | Live Newspaper Hyderabad

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asked Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers to strive for changing the negative image about police among the general public.
“There has been a negative perception among people about police and this is a challenge to police. During the pandemic, the perception changed after police reached out and helped the people in need. But now the old perception is back. Why is public confidence not improving when it comes to police?” Modi asked, virtually addressing IPS probationers of the 71st and 72nd batch of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad.
“For country’s security, implementation of law and during crushing terror, police give their life. This challenge to change the police image by ending the negative perception, now depends on you,’’ he said, comparing police with NDRF.
According to him, people have high respect for NDRF since they get confidence once they arrive during a calamity and that they risk their lives to save people.
The passing out parade for the 178 probationers, including 33 lady probationers, and 34 trainee officers from Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Mauritius would be held at NPA campus at Shirvrampalli on August 6.
Speaking about the challenges of cyber security and financial frauds, Modi said new research and experiments should be done and applied by police to avert the designs of criminals.
While addressing the trainee officers, Prime Minister Modi said that whether the trainee officers would change the system or the system would change them, would depend on them during their career.
“Whenever you are in field, whatever decisions you take, it must be in the country’s interest. You should always have the spirit of ‘Nation First, Always First’,’’ the PM said.
Modi said that the induction of more women into the police department would only strengthen the police force. Interacting with some of the trainee officers, PM Modi said that financial frauds, targeting of women and children by cyber criminals was a major challenge.
He also sought suggestions about what could be done to solve this issues by using technology.
Apart from doing their routine policing responsibilities, the PM suggested woman IPS trainees to occasionally visit local girl schools and interact with the students as it would motivate them to achieve their goals.

'Excellent': PM Shares Video Of 'Over 3000 Blackbucks' Crossing A Road

The herd was seen leaping high in the air while galloping away.

New Delhi:

Thousands of blackbucks were seen crossing a road at a national park in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district in a stunning video shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Excellent!” was how PM Modi described the sighting.

The video of the large herd at the Velavadar Blackbuck National Park, originally tweeted by the Gujarat department of information, was retweeted by the Prime Minister.

According to the department, “over 3,000 blackbucks” were the part of the herd which was seen leaping high in the air while galloping away.

The blackbucks are protected animals and their hunting is banned under the Wildlife Act since 1972. Once widespread through the Indian subcontinent they are now a part of the endangered species list after their numbers declined due to excessive hunting, deforestation and habitat degradation.

The Velavadar National Park, an hour’s drive north of Bhavnagar, is famous for its blackbuck population. Hugging the coasts of the Gulf of Khambhat on the south, the sanctuary is spread over an area of 34 square kilometer. Other than the blackbucks, the park is also inhabited by a sizeable number of birds and animal species. Several species of migratory birds, such as Pelicans and flamingos can also be spotted here.

PM Modi, Sharad Pawar Meet For Nearly 50 Minutes

PM Modi and Sharad Pawar met in Delhi.

New Delhi:

Sharad Pawar, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter’s residence. The meeting last 50 minutes, sources said.

“Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sharad Pawar met PM Narendra Modi,” the Prime Minister’s Office tweeted, along with a photo of the two leaders meeting.

The meeting comes two days ahead of the monsoon session of parliament and amid reports of strains in the Shiv Sena-led alliance in Maharashtra, of which Mr Pawar’s party is a party of.

Earlier this week, the veteran politician denied that he is a candidate for post of the President — speculation triggered by election analyst Prashant Kishor’s meeting with the Gandhis.

“It is wrong to say that I am a candidate for the Presidential election,” Mr Pawar told reporters on Wednesday.

Mr Pawar, 80, who had taken the initiative to stitch up an opposition wall ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, also said no decision has been taken about the 2024 elections. “The political situation keeps changing,” he added.

The Rajya Sabha member had also commented on the formation of a new ‘Ministry of Cooperation’ a day before the mega reshuffle of PM Modi’s cabinet. He said that laws on the cooperation sector have been framed in the Maharashtra assembly and said that the centre has no right to interfere with legislation drafted by the state.

Mr Pawar was part of a meeting held by newly-appointed leader of Rajya Sabha and Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday, ahead of  the parliament session. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior Congress leader Anand Sharma too attended that meeting. An all-party meeting will be held on tomorrow.

Telangana: Warangal tea stall owner to interact with PM | | Live Newspaper Hyderabad

[ad_1]

WARANGAL: When tea stall owner Md Mahmood Pasha’s mobile rang a few days ago, he couldn’t believe that the caller was from the Prime Minister’s office.
Exactly 11 months after clearing a Rs 10,000 loan taken under the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, Pasha has not only been promised another Rs 20,000 to his account, but will also get a rare opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the radio programme, ‘Mann Ki Baat’ soon, officials said.
Pasha, who lost his livelihood during the pandemic, applied for the loan in August and once it was cleared, set up a tea stall.
“They called me last Saturday and I shot back, why are you asking me about the loan, I have already cleared it. So please don’t harass me. But they in turn asked me to make a video and send it,” Pasha, a junior college dropout told TOI.
Within a few minutes, officials from the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) visited his tea stall and asked Pasha about a possible call from the PMO office.
“They informed me that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with me. For the past few days, I have been participating in training sessions on various questions and answers virtually with PMO officials from Delhi,” Pasha said.
The tea seller has now attained instant fame, with dozens of people trooping to his tea stall near the MGM hospital for some hot tea and Osmania biscuits and to know more about him.

Latest News Today – PM Narendra Modi Holds Coronavirus Review, Calls For

PM Holds Covid Review, Calls For NGOs' Help In Vaccine Outreach

PM Modi was also briefed about the rising global interest in the CoWIN platform, his office said.

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting on Saturday to review the situation with the coronavirus pandemic in the country, expressing satisfaction at the rate of vaccination but calling for the outreach to be widened with the help of NGOs, his office said.

“Officials gave a detailed presentation to the PM on the progress of vaccination in the country. PM was briefed about the age-wise vaccination coverage. PM was also briefed about the vaccine coverage among healthcare workers, frontline workers and general population in various states,” a statement from his office said.

“Officials apprised the PM about the vaccine supply in the upcoming months and efforts being made to increase production,” it said.

The meeting came amid growing concerns about the Delta Plus variant of the coronavirus and an impending third wave, weeks after the second wave of COVID-19 left thousands of dead and unleashed unprecedented suffering.

New variants are a concern in India, where more than half the population is still not vaccinated. Only about 5.6 per cent of India’s adult population of 95 crore has received two doses.

The country has reported around 50 cases of Delta Plus, and studies are ongoing to test the effectiveness of existing vaccines against the variant.

“PM was informed that 3.77 crore doses have been administered in the last six days which is more than the entire population of countries like Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Canada,” the statement from his office said.

Even though as a percentage of the population, the vaccine coverage remains low, the PM’s office pointed out that so far, 128 districts in the country have vaccinated more than 50 per cent of the 45+ population and 16 districts have vaccinated more than 90 per cent of the 45+ population.

“PM expressed satisfaction at the rising speed of vaccinations in this week and stressed that it is important to carry this momentum forward,” the statement said.

“Officers briefed the PM that they are in touch with state governments to explore and implement innovative methods to reach people for vaccination,” it said.

“PM spoke about the need to involve NGOs and other organisations in such efforts,” it added.

The Prime Minister asked officers to work with the states to ensure that the pace of testing does not go down, saying that testing remains a very important weapon to track and contain rising infections in any region.

Officers also briefed the PM about the rising interest in the CoWIN platform – the tech backbone of India’s vaccination drive – globally.

“The PM said that efforts should be made to help all countries, who have expressed interest, with India’s rich tech expertise in the form of CoWIN platform,” the statement said.

Latest News Today – PM Narendra Modi At Meet With Yogi Adityanath, Ayodhya A

[ad_1]

'Ayodhya A City By And For Every Indian': PM At Meet With Yogi Adityanath

PM Modi and Yogi Adityanath held a meeting to discuss Ayodhya development projects.

New Delhi/Lucknow:

Ayodhya should manifest the “finest of our traditions and the best of our developmental transformations” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today during his virtual meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to review development projects in the temple town.

This is their second meeting this month; earlier this month, the Chief Minister was in the national capital for meetings with PM Modi and top BJP leaders, including Amit Shah and party chief JP Nadda amid reports of dissent in the party in his state.

During today’s meeting, Yodi Adityanath presented plans for Ayodhya’s development, including better roads, infrastructure, a railway station and an airport. PM Modi described Ayodhya as a city that is “etched in the cultural consciousness of every Indian”, government sources said after the meeting.

“Ayodhya is both spiritual and sublime. The human ethos of this city must be matched by futuristic infrastructure, which is beneficial for everyone including tourists and pilgrims,” the Prime Minister reportedly said, adding that that developmental works in the town will continue in the foreseeable future.

He termed Ayodhya as a “city by and for every Indian”.

The meeting between the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister took place days after allegations emerged against the Ayodhya Ram Temple Trust of an illicit land deal.

Ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed Ram temple in Ayodhya last year, the Uttar Pradesh government had announced several projects to promote the temple town as a big religious tourism destination. The plan for an airport for announced by Yogi Adityanath in 2018. As of now, Ayodhya has an airstrip for the use of VIPs. But the government has announced that it will be converted into an airport.

The mega upgrade plan also include upgradation of the town’s water supply, the bus station and the police barracks.

Latest News Today – Why I Said I Was Hanuman To PM Modi

[ad_1]

On an emotional note, Chirag Paswan said he no longer expected anything from anyone.

New Delhi:

Chirag Paswan, fighting his uncle Pashupati Paras for control of his Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), said he had expected Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stand by him at his worst hour after supporting him whole-heartedly and “doing everything possible for him like Hanuman”.

Speaking exclusively to NDTV, he also accused his Pashupati Paras of betraying his father and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who died in October last.

On feeling let down by the BJP and PM Modi, Mr Paswan, initially hesitant, said: “Let’s address the elephant in the room.”

Referring to his “Hanuman” analogy for his relationship with the Prime Minister, he said: “I am the hanuman for PM. Hanuman did everything possible for his Ram. I did everything possible for my PM, supported him wholeheartedly in every decision.”

Mr Paswan said he supported PM Modi on moves like Article 370 or CAA-NRC (Citizenship Amendment Act) when Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party did not.

“When initially I was going through a low phase (after the party coup), I was expecting my Prime Minister to stand by me. But soon I realized it’s for me to clear up the mess on my own,” said the 39-year-old former actor-turned-politician.

On an emotional note, he said he no longer expected anything from anyone, “don’t even deserve” to expect anything.

“My own family members have betrayed me. My uncle who was like my father and my brother (cousin Prince) who was like my son…I attended his PTA meetings,” the Lok Sabha MP said.

“He was close to papa, so it is a betrayal to him. He is my elder, and if he had a problem with something, he could have always told me that something is bothering him and we could have worked it out together. But the way he has gone about it, it is a betrayal to papa. I am sure papa is not happy wherever he is,” said Paswan Junior.
