Help rain-hit farmers: A Revanth Reddy to Telangana CM K | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: Congress has demanded that the state government immediately do a total assessment of crop damage caused in the heavy rains and floods and give Rs 15,000 per acre towards compensation to farmers.
In a letter to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday, Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy demanded that the CM shift his focus from Huzurabad bypoll and concentrate on extending help to the farmers who were in distress.
“You (CM) are willing to spend Rs 3,000 crore in Huzurabad to ensure TRS’s win in the by-election at any cost. It is unfortunate that you have not announced even Rs 1,000 crore support to the farmers for crop damages sustained in the rains,” Revanth said in the letter.
He asked the government to supply seeds, fertilisers and input subsidy to the farmers to go for sowing operations again. “The government should start paying the premium and ensure that the crop insurance scheme is extended to the farmers,” he said.

Probe phone tapping by Telangana govt: Congress president A | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday demanded the Centre order an inquiry into phone tapping allegations made by Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy against the TRS government.
He said the Telangana Congress will organise a Chalo Raj Bhavan rally on Thursday demanding a probe by a joint parliamentary committee and an inquiry by a Supreme Court judge into Narendra Modi-led NDA government’s snooping and tapping of phones of Rahul Gandhi and others. A memorandum will be submitted to the governor.
Revanth sought to remind that Kishan Reddy, who was Union minister of state for home in November 2020, had alleged that the phones of several BJP leaders were tapped by the state government ahead of the Dubbak by-election.
“When a Union minister had said that phone tapping is taking place in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not respond to it. Was it because the central government feared that its snooping and phone tapping issue would also get exposed?” Revanth said.

Outgoing president N Uttam Kumar Reddy handed over the charge amidst chanting of mantras.

The change of leadership in Telangana Congress has been affected almost six-and-a-half-year after Uttam Kumar Reddy was given the charge in February 2015.
The swearing-in ceremony of Revanth as the TPCC president was preceded by a huge rally from Peddamma temple in Jubilee Hills to Gandhi Bhavan in Nampally.

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka summoned to Delhi by Congress high | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: Even as newly-appointed president of Telangana Congress A Revanth Reddy is going to the residences of senior party leaders and meeting them in an effort to minimise the dissidence and take along all sections of party members, Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has rushed to Delhi after being summoned by the party high command.
While Bhatti told TOI that he is in Delhi to discuss the latest developments on the political turf of Telangana after the appointment of Revanth as new TPCC chief, sources said he was summoned to Delhi as some party leaders in the state were not happy over Bhatti leading a delegation to meet chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Pragathi Bhavan.
Bhatti along with MLAs D Sridhar Babu, T Jayaprakash Reddy, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and SC cell chairman Pritam had submitted a memorandum to CM KCR seeking probe into the recent lock-up death of a Dalit woman—Mariamma.
There is a section of senior party leaders who feel that Bhatti’s visit to Pragathi Bhavan had the potential to send wrong message among the people and may harm the prospects of the revival of the Congress, said a senior leader and added that he could have gone to meet CM after proper discussion with the party leadership.

Kisan Congress demands comprehensive survey of govt lands in | Live Newspaper Hyderabad

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: The state unit of the All India Kisan Congress has raised serious doubts over the category of lands the TRS government is planning to auction to mop up revenues.
The TRS government has been acquiring agriculture and assigned lands from the farmers, SC, STs and other people, all in the name of “public purpose.” The government should immediately stop its preparations to auction lands and order a comprehensive survey of government lands available in the state and make the data public, demanded M Kodanda Reddy, vice-president of the All India Kisan Congress.
In a letter to chief secretary Somesh Kumar on Monday, Kodanda Reddy along with Kisan Congress state president Anvesh Reddy termed as ridiculous the state government’s justification that one of the reasons for planning to auction government lands is to prevent encroachments.
“We are of the strong opinion that the government can raise revenues through means. Sale of the government land is not acceptable as the government is custodian of the public lands and not an absolute owner of it,” Kodanda Reddy stated.

12 party MLAs who defected to TRS should resign and seek | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: The Congress has demanded that the 12 Congress MLA’s who defected to the ruling TRS should resign to their MLA posts or chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should ask them to resign.
Former MP and Telangana Congress working president Ponnam Prabhakar on Saturday said that ex-minister Eatala Rajender has resigned to his MLA post before formally joining the BJP.
“This is the proper and ethical way of leaving a political party to join another political entity. Eatala is most likely to seek re-election from Huzurabad on a BJP ticket. Likewise. even the defected Congress MLAs should resign and seek re-election on TRS ticket because they had won from their respective constituencies on Congress ticket,” Ponnam said.
It was in June 2019 that 12 Congress MLAs, who constituted two-thirds of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi Legislature Party (TRSLP) in the state legislative assembly.
As a result, the number of Congress legislators’ strength fell from 19 to six, and it lost opposition party status in the assembly. The assembly secretariat issued a bulletin confirming the merger of the CLP MLAs with the TRS in the evening.
Though 19 Congress candidates were elected as MLAs, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned to his Huzurnagar assembly seat following his election to from Nalgonda Lok Sabha seat, and later the party could not retain the seat in the by-poll.
“Till today, the 12 MLAs who defected from Congress to TRS, have not resigned,” said Ponnam Prabhakar.

V Hanumanth Rao urges Sonia Gandhi to send AICC observers to | Live Newspaper Hyderabad

[ad_1]

HYDERABAD: With the likelihood of a new president being appointed to Telangana Congress anytime soon, Congress veteran and former MP V Hanumanth Rao (VHR) on Saturday shot off a letter to the party president Sonia Gandhi requesting her to send central observers to elicit the opinion of all senior and junior leaders before taking a decision on appointment of new TPCC president and CLP leader.
In his letter, Hanumanth Rao urged Sonia Gandhi not to depend solely on the report submitted by AICC in-charge of Telangana Manickam Tagore for appointment of a new TPCC president. “AICC central observers were sent to Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala when there was a difference of opinion on PCC chief posts in the respective states. The same policy should be followed in Telangana too as Congress veteran and loyalist’s opinion should be taken on important party matters,” he said.
Taking a hasty decision relying only on Tagore’s report may cause severe damage to the party. Already 12 Congress MLAs have defected to the TRS and that it cannot be ruled out that a few more MLAs will not leave the party. Also, there is no guarantee that those who have joined the Congress from other parties will continue to remain in the Congress, he stated in the letter.
