7 of the Best VR Games That Will Actually Give You a Great | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

Boxing experience Thrill of the Fight is the toughest game I played, it got my heart rate the highest, and even though the graphics were a bit cheesy I ended up totally immersed. Between rounds of one fight, I nearly sat down on the virtual stool in my corner of the ring.

The hands-on experience begins when you start the app and see the menus explaining how the game works. Instead of pointing your controllers at buttons on the menus (most games have you aim them like laser guns), you walk directly up to the menu screens and touch them with your virtual hands, which are already wearing boxing gloves.

You’re in a small gym with a garage-like feel. A coach stands off to the side, watching you but not speaking. There’s a locker room area, a dummy you can practice punches on, and an elevated boxing ring. Choose an opponent to fight, and suddenly you’re in one corner of the ring with a small crowd gathered around. You throw punches, and try not to get punched. If you do take a hit, the world fades a bit, goes black and white, and you (if you are like me) back away from your opponent for a minute while you try to get your bearings.

I won three rounds against my opponent, but it was exhausting. I hit him when I could, and kept moving toward him, trying to keep the pressure on. I found myself constantly pushing into the far corner of my Guardian, which the game helpfully draws as a red rectangle on the virtual ring’s floor. I needed to punch and punch again and not get punched myself. The audience was watching, my coach judging silently. I didn’t want to fuck this up. I didn’t want to get punched. If you want to get your heart rate up, or just be a little bit terrified for a short interval workout, play Thrill of the Fight.

10 Video Games for Newbies Who Always Wanted to Become | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

Players fell in love with Skyrim’s vast landscapes almost ten years ago and many never left—there’s just so much to do and see. It’s also a great introduction to the series and open-world RPGs in general.

While the game’s main quest is good—you’ll slay dragons, travel to the lands of the dead, and get caught up in a brutal civil war—you’re free to play in whatever way you want. There’s just so much to do in this massive open-world RPG: unique landmarks to discover, countless side quests to take on, and ancient artifacts to acquire.

Players create their own unique characters then slowly specialize their abilities as they progress. You can be a lithe Wood Elf assassin, a magic-wielding humanoid cat, or even a nordic cheese collector. You can strike out into the cold mountains in search of vampires, build your own home and virtual family, join the ranks of prestigious guilds, and so much more. That might sound like too much freedom for inexperienced gamers, but don’t let Skyrim’s openness scare you away; it’s actually quite forgiving.

While some old-school RPG fans look askance at Skyrim’s streamlined gameplay systems, they’re perfect for new players: Skills, equipment, and other menus are snappy and easy to use; a quest log tracks your progress; and an onscreen compass highlights objectives and points of interest. There’s also a combat difficulty slider that lets you fine-tune the challenge level and options for playing in first- or third-person perspective.

Available on: Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S. (Original version also available on Xbox 360 and PS3)

Could We Really Colonize Venus? The Out-of-Touch Adults’ | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

I’ve tested the global youth-culture internet and the results have come back positive: Everything is looking up this week. We’re even talking about colonizing Venus, which is cool…if not impossible.

This week in TikTok: Brently and Jeffery make new friends

I’m gonna kick off the heartwarming positivity with the story of Brently and Jeffery. These two Canadian kids like movies, comic books, and slush puppies, but they don’t have many other friends. So they turned to TikTok.

“If you live in the Moncton, New Brunswick area or are just generally in New Brunswick, we’d really like to be your friend ‘cause it’s just the two of us right now, you know?” Brently said in a recent video.

The reaction was mixed. Haters said the video was depressing and pathetic. Others said Brently and Jeffery are awesome, and you’d be lucky to hang out with them. But either way, the video went viral, and soon Brently had thousands of new follows and millions of views. So he organized a meet-up, and lots of awesome people came, and they even brought sodie pop! Sometimes the internet isn’t evil at all.

This week in streaming: I Think You Should Leave season 2 is live

If you haven’t seen Tim Robinson’s I Think You Should Leave, I’m jealous that you get to experience it for the first time. It’s the funniest, smartest show on TV. ITYSL delves deeply into humor-through-cringe with characters whose inability to navigate social norms inevitably leads to public explosions of embarrassment. It’s hilarious; the perfect show for the internet generation. Season one led to the widely shared Hot Dog Guy meme—a man dressed in a hot dog costume vowing to get to the bottom of the mystery of who crashed the weinermobile, a perfect encapsulation of the nightmare of 2020— so get in there and check it out before it’s memefied. It’s on Netflix. And while you’re at it, track down Robinson’s The Detroiters, a criminally under-appreciated show on Comedy Central.

This week in video games: American troops pulling out of Afghani Pokémon gyms

Last week, American and NATO troops pulled out of Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, leaving behind both Afghani civilians facing an uncertain future and some weak ass Pokémon. When it was filled with thousands of young troops, Bagram hosted a thriving Pokémon Go community, with hotly contested gyms defended by only the strongest Pokémon. Now that the troops are gone, there’s no one to battle. Bagram Air Force base’s Pokémon gyms, once home to only the strongest, highest-CP Pokémon are now defended by weaklings.

According to The Stars and Stripes, a piddly little Lotad has defended the Warrior Chapel at Bagram for ten days, and an Aron has been holding down another gym for two weeks. There’s a bright side, though, as John Sutter, a Pokémon playing military man, pointed out. “I’m sure somewhere in Afghanistan, some kid is bragging about how he took control of an American Pokémon gym,” he said.

This week in global pandemics: Kids faking positive COVID tests

Clever British schoolchildren are reportedly falsifying COVID test results to take days off from school. Before it was banned by TikTok, #fakecovidtest was a thriving hashtag with over six million views. It was full of teens suggesting dumping Coca-Cola, lemon juice, and other substances on COVID tests to fake a positive result.

Surprisingly, it looks like the TikTok videos weren’t just trolls: You can, apparently, break a lateral flow COVID test by dousing it in an acidic liquid like lemon juice, but positive results on that test would likely lead to a not-currently-hackable PCR test for confirmation. Plus, it’s just not a good idea.

“We are sure this involves a very small minority of pupils, and that for the most part the tests are used correctly,” Geoff Barton, General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, told Britain’s iNews.

“However, we would urge parents to ensure that tests are not being misused, and we would suggest to pupils who are interested in chemical reactions that the best place to learn about them is in chemistry lessons in school,” he added, Britishly.

Viral Video of the Week: How to terraform Venus

I can’t even figure out how to keep a basil plant alive in my backyard, but the science-based YouTubers at Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell are figuring out how to terraform the planet Venus. The temperature on Venus is hot enough to melt lead, and the atmosphere is made up almost entirely of CO2, so it’s not going to be easy. The plan is to clean up the CO2 from the atmosphere by building mirrors large enough to block all sunlight from the planet, freezing the deadly atmosphere, and then sending the CO2 elsewhere. From there, we’re going to transport huge blocks of liquid water from the moon Europa somehow, then create miniature artificial suns out of space-mirrors in order to… you know what? It’s not going to work. But it’s a fun video anyway. It’s nice to have hope that we’ll have a livable planet in the future.

5 Less Violent ‘Battle Royale’ Games for Kids | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

This PC-only ship-based fantasy combat game isn’t non-violent exactly, but it’s just sailing ships shooting at each other, so it isn’t as personal and visceral as people mowing other people down face-to-face.

In Maelstrom, up to 16 players take to the seas and fire volleys of cannonballs at each other, battle vicious sea monsters, and collect loot until only one schooner remains. It’s a fairly involved game, so it’s not good for smaller kids, but if you’re looking for a unique take on the “one vs. many” genre, and you dream of being a buccaneer on the briny deep, this is the game for you.

This Free Mod Adds ‘World of Warcraft’ Zones to ‘Valheim’ | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

Valheim players worried about all the time they’re spending outside of World of Warcraft can now kill two birds with one stone. Thanks to a new—freemod, you can explore the beloved realms of Azeroth from within everyone’s favorite Viking survival game.

The free mod, called Valheim of Warcraft, doesn’t change anything about Valheim’s core gameplay, but adds the majority of World of Warcraft’s zones to Valheim as playable landmasses. This includes Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms, Quel’Thalas, Northrend, Pandaria, and lots more.

Note that this import isn’t a one-to-one recreation. The mod’s creator, who goes by “Kromek” on the Nexus Mod website, says each landmass has been shrunk by about 20% to make the map fit in Valheim, and the cosmic realms like Argus, Draenor, Outlands, and the Shadowlands are not yet included. The Maelstrom is also technically there, but without its iconic whirling vortex.

The custom map starts players off in a recreated version of the Timeless Isle that includes active portals to World of Warcraft’s various starting zones. From there, each zone has its own progression path and boss battles to play through, with further portals that ferry you around the land in place of World of Warcraft’s ship and zeppelin routes.

That said, you won’t find major cities, dungeons, or other structures to explore, though Kromek plans to add optional prebuilt structures and flesh the map out with “burial chambers, sunken crypts, and goblin villages” where they would believably appear. But since Valheim lets players build their own towns, you and your friends could challenge yourselves to recreate Orgrimmar, Stormwind, and the rest on your own right now.

To add Valheim of Warcraft map to your game:

  1. Go to Users/[Your User Name]/AppData/LocalLow/IronGate/Valheim on your PC.
  2. Back up the “Worlds” and “Characters” folders to a safe, easily accessible location so you can recover your game data if something goes wrong.
  3. Install the Better Continents mod from Nexus Mods (requires a free Nexus Mods account).
  4. Download the Valheim of Warcraft map zip folder from Nexus Mods.
  5. Unzip the Valheim of Warcraft map to Users/[Your User Name]/AppData/LocalLow/IronGate/Valheim/worlds
  6. Open Valheim, then select “Valheim of Warcraft” from the listed worlds to start playing.

Instructions for playing the map online are included on Valheim of Warcraft’s Nexus mod page.

I received a discovery kit of items from Pacifica Skincare last year, and oh my, they quickly worked their way to the front of my skincare list. If you’re unfamiliar or curious about the all-natural cosmetics company, today is the day to remedy that. Right now at Ulta is running a sale for 30% off eighty-two of their killer products.

Besides the gorgeous packing, everything Pacifica makes is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. One of my top products currently is the Clean Shot Niacinamide, Zinc & Hemp Complex serum. There is also lemongrass in it, so there is a very slight smell of that, but it absolutely puts your skin back in balance. Just use a few drops in the morning or night before your usual routine. You’ll see the difference pretty quickly.

I’ve actually been using the Sea Foam Face Wash as my main makeup remover. First off, it smells amazing. It foams up and really deep cleans my skin without leaving it super dry. It works perfectly with all complexion types. Your face will be feeling fresh and ready for serums or creams instantly.

Here’s the literal best deal you will ever see on the internet, period. You can currently buy the Xbox version of Titanfall 2: Ultimate Edition for $3. That’s no typo. $3. I can’t express enough how stellar this deal is. Titanfall 2 is a fantastic first-person shooter from Respawn that features fast-paced gunplay and heavy-hitting mech battles. If multiplayer shooters aren’t your thing, it features a fantastic single-player campaign that you need to play. It’s short and sweet, so you can knock it out in a day or two. With two USB-A charging ports, and one USB-C charging port, you’ll be able to keep all your gear charged up on your road trips without worrying about killing your car’s battery.

This deal was originally published by Jordan McMahon.

We love our pets; we really do. We don’t love their fur on everything we own. I have a wirehaired terrier, and I can’t leave the house without taking most of him with me. If you have a shedding fluffer but need a hand in keeping hair free, the Fur Zapper Pet Hair Remover can save the day and your outfit. This two-pack from StackSocial is the easiest solution you will ever find.

I adore my dog and all the other puppers in my life, but if I could have a day without his white hair on my clothes, that’d be amazing. The FurZappers not only help with hair but lint, dander, and anything else that might be causing you fuzzy annoyances when doing laundry. Just toss one of these in the washer and the dryer and magically separate that pet fur from your garments. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rewashed sweaters because of pet hair. When in the dryer, these actually heat up and become almost like sticky tape pulling everything you don’t want off and keeping your favorite items intact. Save time, energy, and water. You’re helping the environment and looking better while doing it.

The Best Free-to-Play Games for the Xbox Series X/S | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

The latest Xbox Insider program update nixes the Xbox Live Gold requirement for free-to-play (F2P) Xbox games for users in the Xbox Insider Alpha & Alpha Skip Ahead rings. The change will roll out to other Xbox Insider levels in the coming weeks, and, hopefully, everyone else soon after.

This will be a huge benefit for players—after all, a game isn’t really free if you have to pay a subscription fee to play it online. It will also bring Microsoft up to date with Nintendo and Sony, which allow players to access multiplayer modes in F2P games without subscribing to their respective online services.

To help you prepare for this change, we made a list of 10 great F2P games on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. We focus on games that are purely free to download—stuff that you can play all (or most) of without having to pay for large chunks of content. We left out games that are “free to start,” or require you pay to unlock most of the game—which why you won’t see Destiny 2 or Killer Instinct on this list.

That said, while all the games on our list are free to download and play, most feature some form of in-game monetization, such as bonus characters, “Battle Passes” that unlock new cosmetic items as you level up, or—in some cases—loot boxes that include randomized rewards. However, these purchases are optional and not essential to playing the games.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends is a squad-based battle royale FPS set in the Titanfall universe. While most games in the Battle Royale genre start players on even footing, Apex Legends includes a selection of unique heroes with special abilities, giving each player slightly different capabilities in battle. The game also popularized the “ping” system, where your in-game character communicates important information to your squad mates—like weapon locations or incoming enemies—making it easier to play without voice chat.

Call of Duty: Warzone

Another multiplayer battle royale game, this time based on the wildly popular Call of Duty franchise. Unlike other Call of Duty games, Warzone features 150-player matches in a massive map that includes elements of multiplayer arenas from previous Call of Duty titles. Players compete to be the last combatant standing, utilizing the weapons and tactical gear Call of Duty is known for.

Dauntless

Dauntless is all about taking on massive beasts, known as “behemoths,” slaying them, and turning them into armor and weapons that will help you take on bigger behemoths… rinse off the blood and repeat. It’s a simple concept, but the loop can be highly addictive (as evidenced by the wildly popular Monster Hunter series, which Dauntless cribs from).

Fortnite

We’ve covered a few free-to-play battle royale games so far, but none are as popular as Fortnite. The third-person shooter’s competitive modes are the most popular, but there are also creative and co-op modes to try out… And digital concerts to watch. Film studios have even been known to debut new movie trailers in-game before anywhere else. Honestly, Fortnite is more of a platform than a game at this point, and you can try it out for free if you somehow haven’t already.

Neverwinter

Neverwinter is an MMORPG based on the Neverwinter Dungeons & Dragons setting (go figure). All in-game content is free; you can roll a new character and level up to the end game without spending a penny. Players pick between eight classes and thirteen races—all pulled directly from the D&D tabletop game. Drows, Tieflings, Dragonborns are all here, and more. Fans of big, modern MMOs like Final Fantasy XIV, The Elder Scrolls Online or World of Warcraft, and long-time D&D players will find plenty to enjoy.

Path of Exile

Path of Exile is an action-RPG brimming with choice. There are 19 specialized character classes to play, over 1,325 passive skills to unlock, and heaps of unique weapons and armor to collect and customize. You can play the game’s storyline and explore its world online with friends or by yourself, and there are recurring special events and challenges to keep you busy while you build the perfect character.

Phantasy Star Online 2

Microsoft helped Sega finally bring Phantasy Star Online 2 to western audiences in 2020—almost 8 years after it originally launched in Japan. Like the original PSO, PSO 2 is an online action RPG that’s all about collecting loot and slaying hordes of monsters with your friends. While it shows its age in places, Phantasy Star Online 2 is fun to play and has over eight years worth of content to enjoy. Some progress will even carry over to the next game in the series, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, releasing later in 2021.

Roblox

Roblox is less of a game and more a game creation platform. Players can create their own video games using the tools and assets available in Roblox, and share their creations online. The range of available content is huge—virtually every popular genre of video game has been recreated in Roblox.

Rocket League

In Rocket League, two teams try to score goals by ramming, flipping, and skidding their RC car-like vehicles into a giant soccer ball. Yes, it’s as awesome and chaotic as it sounds. Even better, the game supports cross-play, so Xbox players can team up or challenge friends on PlayStation 4 or 5, Switch, and PC.

Warframe

Warframe is another free-to-play action MMO, but it stands out from the competition thanks to its striking sci-fi theme, highly acrobatic gameplay, and a large variety of content. There are dozens of unique Warframes to unlock and customize, numerous planets to explore, multiple factions to interact with, and several storylines to experience—some of which are truly mind-bending. The game also receives regular free updates that often add entirely new gameplay elements. It’s a dense game, but Digital Extremes has several guides for new players looking to try the game out.

Get Super Mario 3D All-Stars for $50 Before Mario Draws His | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

Best Gaming DealsBest Gaming DealsThe best deals on games, consoles, and gaming accessories from around the web, updated daily.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars | $50 | Walmart

Lets’a go! Super Mario 3D All-Stars is down to $50 at Walmart today, a familiar price for anyone who grew up playing the games included in the collection. Back in 2002, I remember getting $50 from my mom so I could go to the mall and gleefully pick up a copy of Super Mario Sunshine. Then there was 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy, one of the first games I bought on my own when I went off to college. At the time $50 seemed like a real investment. Seeing that price tag on these classic games is kind of nostalgic, isn’t it? Okay, I’m reaching. It’s a little bizarre that the collection was $60 to begin with, but the price reduction here is a welcome one. Super Mario 3D All-Stars will literally vanish from shelves starting today, so if you’ve been hoping for a discount, this is your last chance.

How to Stream Kaskade’s Concert in ‘Fortnite’ This Weekend | Sidnaz Blog

[ad_1]

Fortnite’s next big in-game concert features Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Kaskade, who will perform his new Reset EP in full multiple times between Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27. The shows will happen live in Fortnite’s Party Royale game mode.

Kaskade’s concert is part of Fortnite’s upcoming “Llama-Rama” event, running March 25 – April 9. During those weeks, players can complete limited-time challenges and purchase limited-time gear from Fortnite’s shop, much of which is cross-over items from the popular vehicle-based soccer game Rocket League (Kaskade also provided music for Rocket League’s Season 2 update).

One of the promo items is a special emote that gives your Fortnite character a tiny Rocket League car to ride on. You’ll find all the challenges and special rewards in Epic’s official Llama-Rama announcement.

You can also expect Rocket League-themed elements to show up in Kaskade’s performances. Prior to showtime, the artist’s in-game avatar will ride around the map on Rocket League vehicles, and players can also catch a preview trailer for Rocket League Season 3 immediately following each performance.

How to watch Kaskade’s Fornite concert

Kaskade is holding three performances throughout the weekend, so you have multiple opportunities to watch:

  • Friday, March 26, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET
  • Saturday, March 27, at 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET
  • Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET

Epic is also offering players multiple viewing options. Fortnite players can watch:

  • At the Main Stage area in Fortnite’s Party Royale mode. (Here’s a guide on how to find your way to the stage if you’re new to Party Royale.)
  • Use the Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode while playing standard Battle Royale matches, that way you can catch Kaskade’s show and get those Victory Royale.

For those who can’t watch in Fortnite, Epic is also offering the show through the Houseparty app, which lets you watch events with your friends. Houseparty is free on Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows, and even as a Google Chrome extension.

Epic’s official announcement post includes instructions for watching and inviting friends in House party, and turning on the PIP mode while playing Battle Royale.

Buy 2 Get 1 Free Sale | Amazon

I don’t know about you, but I still collect physical games. Yeah, they’re obsolete and it makes sense to go all digital. But I love being able to lend a game to a friend when I’m done with it. That’s ethics! If you’re in the same camp, Amazon is currently running a buy 2, get 1 free sale on lots of different media and that includes video games. Not only that, it includes some recent hits. You can grab games like Hitman 3, Spider-Man Miles Morales, and Little Nightmares 2. As you can imagine, there’s lots more in there too (like the Criterion Collection edition of Eraserhead), so poke your head in and see if you can build your entire spring gaming backlog in one go.
